BIOGRAPHY

A Bridge Builder for Generations

Dr. Jesse Miranda (1937–2019) was a pioneering pastor, educator, and Christian leader whose vision transformed Hispanic evangelical leadership in the United States. Raised in the Sawmill barrio of Albuquerque, New Mexico, he encountered Christ through the prayers and compassion of a local Pentecostal church. Beginning his ministry at age nineteen, he dedicated his life to equipping Hispanic pastors, strengthening churches, and creating opportunities for future generations. His leadership within the Assemblies of God included overseeing hundreds of congregations and becoming the first Hispanic leader to serve on its Executive Presbytery.

As the founding president of the Alianza de Ministerios Evangélicos Nacionales (AMEN), Dr. Miranda helped unite Hispanic Christian leaders across denominations, cultures, and generations. His pioneering work laid an important foundation for the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), bringing greater visibility and influence to Latino evangelicals nationwide. He also advised three U.S. presidents on immigration matters and advocated for racial reconciliation, theological education, and greater Hispanic representation in Christian leadership.

A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Miranda taught at the Latin American Bible Institute and helped establish the Jesse Miranda Center for Hispanic Leadership at Vanguard University. Through his teaching, writing, and personal mentorship, he inspired emerging leaders to embrace their cultural identity while serving the broader Church. Together with his wife of 62 years, Susan, he built a legacy rooted in faith, family, and service. His vision of unity, education, and leadership continues to influence generations of Hispanic Christians.
