Pastor Sonny Arguinzoni Sr. (1939–2025) was a pioneering Christian leader, evangelist, and founder of Victory Outreach International, whose ministry transformed countless lives across the world. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he experienced the devastating effects of drug addiction before encountering the transforming power of Jesus Christ. Inspired by his own redemption, he developed a passion for reaching individuals often forgotten or rejected by society. In 1967, alongside his wife, Julie, he founded Victory Outreach in East Los Angeles, beginning a ministry dedicated to restoring lives and offering hope through the Gospel.
What began as a small outreach to individuals struggling with addiction grew into an international Christian movement. Under Pastor Sonny’s leadership, Victory Outreach established more than 700 churches and recovery ministries worldwide, developing pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and Christian leaders from communities once considered unreachable. His vision extended beyond rehabilitation to spiritual transformation, leadership development, and global evangelism. Through biblical education, ministry training centers, and international church planting, he equipped generations to discover their God-given purpose.
Pastor Sonny’s legacy was defined by his unwavering belief that no life was beyond God’s power to restore. Through Victory Outreach Bible College, Urban Training Centers, and the Third Wave movement, he invested in preparing future generations for ministry. His pioneering approach to inner-city evangelism received national recognition and inspired churches across continents. Following his passing in March 2025, the mission he established continues through Victory Outreach International, his family, and thousands of spiritual sons and daughters carrying the message of hope, redemption, and transformation to the nations.
